A cry so raw so filled with pain
Alive in my ears even now
Surfaced again and again
As she struggled to cope
The nest! Washed and gone
She searched afar eyes filled with hope
Fluttering her damp feathers
Jumping from bough to bough
Time will heal I thought so!
Yet the cry in my ear
Refuses to go
I wander afar in hope to elude
When it dawns
I may turn or fold my hands
Yet how will I drown the piercing cry?
Such a small being
Such a dainty thing
So much grief
So little to hold
She looked up at the sky
And seemed to ask
Where have you taken my babies?
And why?
